Troubleshooting
Diagnosing connection and configuration issues
A collection of common issues and how to fix them.
Connection timed out when connecting
- Verify that the CNAME record points to your protected address from the MineGuard panel
- Confirm DNS has propagated:
nslookup play.myserver.com - Check that the network is active in the panel
- Check that the backend is reachable (try connecting directly by IP)
Domain isn't verifying
- Check the TXT record:
nslookup -type=TXT _mineguard.play.myserver.com - Make sure the record name is correct (including the subdomain)
- Wait 5–10 minutes after adding the record
- Some providers automatically append the domain to the record name — if you entered
_mineguard.play.myserver.comand the provider added.myserver.com, you'll end up with a double domain
Players get kicked when connecting
If the kick message contains a link to a captcha page, it means Captcha verification is enabled. The player needs to complete the check by following the link.
If the kick has no link, check your server's logs. The problem is likely on the backend side (whitelist, plugins, not enough slots).
Hosting firewall is blocking MineGuard
Some hosts have their own DDoS filter that may block traffic from MineGuard. Contact your host and ask them to whitelist our IPs. The IP addresses are listed in the control panel.
